Young Lives Update

We would like to thank you for your support over the past few years.  As many of you are experiencing funding cuts, we too at Young Lives are going through a period of change.  Our contract with the Local Authority has ended and subsequently our funding arrangements have changed.  The focus of Young Lives has also changed and over the next few months we will be supporting Groups to collaborate to create better outcomes for children and young people.  We will remain true to our aims which are:

  • To represent, support and strengthen the voluntary and community sector (VCS) groups working with children, young people and families in the Wakefield Metropolitan District to enable children, young people and families play their full part in society

  • to actively advocate the development of opportunities for children, young people and families and support the increase in provision of services throughout the Wakefield metropolitan district through identified need

Young Lives is a Support Organisation dedicated to supporting Voluntary and Community Sector Organisations (VCS) in the Wakefield District. We work with charities, community groups, statutory groups, uniform groups, faith groups, youth associations and youth clubs to ensure that organisations working with children and young people in the Wakefield Metropolitan District are fully supported.

We aim do this in a number of ways:

  • Representation - Promoting and coordinating involvement of VCS groups at a strategic level

  • Partnership Working - Creating strong partnerships of VCS groups in the Wakefield District

  • Communication - Promoting information sharing, communication and participation in the VCS

  • Training and Events - Running training sessions and events to help VCS groups

  • Cooperation - To encourage collaboration and cooperation across the sector
