How can I join the Young Lives Consortium?

Download the application form from the Young Lives website here. You can complete the form on line and return to emily@ylc.org.uk or complete the form in ink and return it to us at: Young Lives Consortium, Lightwaves Leisure Centre, Lower York Street, Marsh Way, Wakefield, WF1 3LJ

How much does it cost?

Membership of the Young Lives Consortium is free. The quarterly magazine will be posted to you free of charge and the e-bulletin emailed to you every 2 - 3 weeks. Some training will be provided free and there will be no charge for the services of the small group development worker. Advice, support and networking are all free of charge.

Do you provide training for staff and volunteers working with Children and Young People?

Can my group apply to Young Lives for Funding?

As a rule we do not provide funding, although we may occasionally receive grants to enable us to distribute monies to groups who provide training etc. Visit the funding section of the Young Lives website to find general information about funding and possible sources of funding; Funding Information

How can I publicise my group?

If you send the information to us we may put it on our website, add it to our e-bulletin of circulate it to our membership. Contact: emily@ylc.org.uk

Can I put an event on your website?

Yes - if you are a VCS group or organisation working with children and young people an event can be advertised via our e-bulletin or website. Email information to emily@ylc.org.uk and we will let you know if we can do so.

Can I advertise vacancies on the website?

Yes this is possible for vacancies within the VCS sector if you are working with children and young people. Email information to emily@ylc.org.uk and we may put the vacancy on our e-bulletin or website, together with your contact details and / or a link to your website.

Can I put news on your website?

Yes - if you are a VCS group or organisation working with children and young people and have any news that you would like to share with the rest of voluntary and community sector email information to emily@ylc.org.uk and it may go on our e-bulletin or website. Likewise if you have any news that will impact on the sector we would love to hear from you 

Can you circulate information for my group?

If you send the information to emily@ylc.org.uk it can go into our next e-bulletin, or if it is urgent it can be circulated to the network via email.

What is workforce development?

Workforce Development is mainly about ensuring people have the skills to do their job. It is about providing support and advice. Workforce development should be an enjoyable process of continuous learning to help workers develop themselves and reach their full potential. It is also about recruiting, developing and keeping staff to help your organisation achieve its objectives. Workforce development can also applies to volunteers, trustees and representatives.
