Young Lives Directors
Young Lives are looking for Directors to represent our members at Board level. We would welcome applications from anyone who would like to support children and young people groups from the voluntary and community sector. To register your interest please email fergus@ylc.org.uk attaching a maximum of one side of A4 setting out your relevant qualifications, experience and areas of interest. We particularly want Directors to take on the portfolios for human resources and children's safeguarding.
Young Lives Representatives
Young Lives are looking for people to represent Young People’s VCS groups on the various boards of the Children’s Trust. This includes the Fulfilled Group, Supported Group and the various sub groups that come from these.
The Children’s Trust brings together all services for children and young people in the Wakefield area and is responsible for delivering the Wakefield District Children and Young People’s Plan. It is therefore important that there is someone who can provide a voice for the sector and feed back development of these meetings so that as a sector we can influence how the Trust works and develops.
By working together as a sector we can use the specific skills and knowledge of you and your organisation on the most appropriate board to provide the strongest possible voice for all VCS Groups.
There are two main aims that we try to achieve as Representatives:
The first is to represent the views of the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) at these Strategic level meetings. It is too easy for our sector to be overlooked and our thoughts, experiences and wisdom left out of key strategic decisions and the reality is that our sector often has a unique insight and experience into the lives of the Children and Young People that we work with and live alongside.
The second aim is to feedback what is happening at a Strategic level to the Voluntary and Community sector organisations. This will be done via Young Lives forum meetings, fortnightly e-bulletins, the magazine and the website as well as your own and wider communication networks. This is absolutely key to making sure that we as a sector do not get left out of decision making.
We will ensure you receive your backfill pay and expenses. You will also receive support and an induction into your role.
If you feel you have the skills or would like to develop them to become a vocal advocate of the VCS, please get in touch.
