 The Able Project

The ABLE Project, a care farm based close to Wakefield City Centre is launching a community appeal to help develop and support vulnerable people from across the district. Volunteers of all skills and experience are needed to lend a hand at The ABLE Project based on Calder Vale Road (Wakefield, WF1 5PJ). In particular local experienced growers, those wanting to start a hobby in horticulture or those wanting to give something back to their community.
Activities volunteers may participate in include:
Horticulture, Bee Keeping, Aquaponics and hydroponics (growing edible plants from fish waste), Fish farming (Koi Carp, Tilapia, Sturgeon and Goldfish), Healthy cooking with our organic produce, Conservation projects, Site maintenance, Reception and Administration Sales, and marketing
Requirements/expectations:
Use own initiative and support other team members.
Be friendly and approachable. Have an interest in the environment. Use initiative and the ability to assist as part of a small team. A minimum time commitment of five hours per week. Be prepared to complete an enhanced CRB check.
Help especially needed:
The ABLE Project would like to also recruit casually paid skilled practitioners in adult care supervision or experience of delivering vocational skills training. As well as paid and non- paid roles ABLE would also like assistance from people with business expertise to offer directorships in Sales and Marketing, Finance and Strategy and Business Development to help ABLE become a leading regional social enterprise. Hall Green Community Association

Hall Green Community Association are looking for volunteers to help with the expansion of provision, in particular those for children and young people. We are a very small team some of whom are quite old and infirm. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated volunteers to help us build up our profile and help us organise events and new groups. Havercroft and Ryhill Sports and Youth Centre

We need a few volunteers to help out with the youth club. Supporting and running the club and providing fun activities for young people to get involved in. If you can spare a few hours in the early evening one night a week then please get in touch. You will be supported in this role and a valued member of a new team. It's a great chance to be work with young people and will look good on your C.V.
